If so, you are not alone. Many on and offline business owners rely on the Internet daily to stay in-the-know.
I definitely spend more time researching information online than I do watching television, browsing business magazines, or reading the local newspaper.
On one hand, it’s pretty cool to have all (or at least, most) of the information you need literally at your fingertips – in your Google reader or a quick search away.
But on the other hand, while much of what we find online is resourceful, too much – of even the good stuff – can lead to frustration and have you second (third and fourth) guessing yourself from now until… forever.
Trust me, I know.
I have consumed attempted to consume so much in recent months that I’ve found myself stuck and wondering: Where should I start? Whose advice should I listen to?
Be selective.
There is no way I can follow everyone’s blog. Some voices (and opinions) are counter-productive and have no place in my space. And some email subscriptions are so freaking annoying; I’m slapping my forehead for subscribing.
But thankfully, despite the noise, there are several voices I can’t imagine my new life without – bloggers, writers, entrepreneurs and a growing list of smart, awesome people whose opinions I respect, admire and trust.
Those are the voices I need to focus more on. And from there my intuition will lead me to more connections, broader places, and get me closer to where I want to be. (It always does!)
Can you relate? I know you can.
Now is as good a time as ever to get rid of the clutter and recover from the overload, so we can move past our resistance and on to creating remarkable things… together

Hi Vickie,
my advice for dealing with information overload:
– Learn to use the channels you need effectively
– Learn to use the tools you need effectively
– Learn to collect the information you need effectively
For example, use a rss reader for blogs; I use Google Reader, and get the headline for each blog-post listed. I can then choose to click it to preview it , or open it in a separate tab to read later. A quick look through the latest headlines often leaves me with 5-20 tabs ready to read – easy and efficient !
So even if I won’t read all your blog posts, I will see your headlines
My 2 cents

Hi Alte, I think your advice is spot-on. I can certainly do a better job with my Google Reader, organizing the info I run across daily, and using other tools I already have access to. Thanks for sharing what works for you! I will be sure to keep all of your points in mind.
