Random Facts about Me
Since I’m new to the personal blogging scene, I thought it would be cool to compile a list of random facts about me. This is the first time I’ve shared many of these facts publicly. They are truly random – in no particular order of preference or otherwise. I will add to this list as necessary.

- I’m a mother of 2 – Jamani (11) and Jermon, II (6).
- I married my best friend 10 years ago after 4 yrs of dating – and I still get butterflies when he walks in the room. Well… most of the time
- I run an online business where I provide support to a small group of attorneys and entrepreneurs.
- I’m a lip gloss gal. I don’t wear any makeup… yet! I’m toying with the idea of stepping my glam game up.
- I love shea butter and cannot imagine life without it.
- I’m going natural after years of perming my hair. (It’s been approx 8 months since my daughter and I received relaxers!)
- I love Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and Lipton’s green tea.
- I’m still working on that work/life balance thingy. (Still working on it… but at this point, I wonder if it’s even possible.)
- I overuse emoticons when expressing how I feel and I’m done apologizing for it.
- And I probably overuse commas, colons, dashes and exclamation points when writing.
- At age 2, my youngest child was not speaking.
- In early 2006, hubby and I were told he exhibited signs of autism.
- Weeks later, my son began speech and language therapy.
- Before age 3, I heard my son’s voice for the first time. And now, I sometimes have to beg him to stop talking.
- In 2009, my son was diagnosed with PDDNOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder Not Otherwise Specified). IMHO, a diagnosis physicians use when they can’t explain “high-functioning” children exhibiting signs of autism.
- Today, at age 6 my son is talking, reading and writing. He graduated Kindergarten with awards in reading and remained an Honor Roll student throughout the year. I’m a proud mommy!
- I’m a dreamer.
- My dream home is a bungalow built in late 1800s or early 1900s.
- I prefer hardwood floors over carpet any day.
- I love to restore and recycle whenever possible. (I’m currently working to restore my 1965 Meyers Manx dune buggy!)
- I prefer old over new most of the time.
- I’m frugal – not just because of today’s economy but because of the way I was reared.
- I don’t use a dishwasher.
- I love to use words like “groovy, awesome, you rock, super, amazing, woo hoo, totally…” and I’ve been told I often overuse them.
- In fact, I probably overuse adjectives all together.
- I love to cook, preferably with cast iron pots and pans.
- I love to cook “healthy” soul food.
- Almost every recipe I use includes olive oil. I’m hooked!
- Garlic, cilantro and parsley are like family around here.
- My favorite show on Food Network is “Cooking with the Neelys,” but I can’t forget my southern gal, Paula Dean. Love her!
- I also love “Turn up the Heat with G. Garvin” on TV One.
- I love, love, love outdoor flea markets and yard sales.
- In the summer, I can spend all day hitting up yard sales in Atlanta in search of antiques and things I can restore.
- I love to read but I’ve never joined a book club – other than Oprah’s.
- Since starting my business, I’ve never attended a local networking event, not even a Tweet Up.
- I’m a paralegal by profession.
- I admire women entrepreneurs.
- I have several professional crushes.
- I will practice law someday. For the first time ever, my future does not include studying for the LSAT and preparing for 3 years of pricey law school. I now have other plans for my future.
- I frequent I’m addicted to dictionary and thesaurus.com.
- I hired a life coach and its one of the best decisions I have made.
- I watch Real Housewives of Atlanta… and a couple of other reality shows.
- I have never seen an episode of Lost, although my friends tell me I should.
- My favorite rapper is Common. (Love, love, love him!)
- I’m a NFL fanatic; always saddened when the season ends.
- My favorite song at this moment is “I Am Changing” – the version Jennifer Hudson performed in Dream Girls. Love it!

Very interesting facts!! I’d never seen an episode of Lost either, until about a month ago. I kept seeing the previews, and reading all of the FB comments, so I decided to start at season one, and I’m hooked!! We have so many things in common!! We recently started a book club, feel free to look us up on FB…Read for 3.
