The Courage to Jump

by Atlanta Mompreneur

I want to share a quote from a post I stumbled upon this morning – What is Courage? by Elizabeth Potts Weinstein.

Courage is about choosing to jump, and trusting the universe to catch you. Yes. Sometimes you may fall, get scraped up, suffer bruises. Be disappointed. Be embarrassed. Go bankrupt. Get your heart broken.

But only by surrendering the illusion of control will you be able to tap into your power. Only then will you have the freedom that comes from knowing that you are capable of handling more than you thought possible.

Only then will you allow into your life the most supportive & challenging people, the most amazing & delicious experiences. Only then can you truly feel ecstasy. Only then will you have the power to change the world.

I have been following Elizabeth’s blog, Live your Truth, for a few months now.

While we have never met in person or online, reading her blog and watching her live her truth online (through the highs and lows) is inspiring on so many levels. Check out the entire post here.

When you find yourself looking for courage (and feeling as though it’s not there), take a moment to reflect on past courageous moments.

What jumps have you taken recently? A big step for you may be a small step for the next person, but don’t let that stop you from acknowledging your courageousness.

For me, hitting publish on this (and every other) blog post. I’m sure it’s simple for many, but me… I feel a bit courageous when I publish.

Picking up the phone to have that “difficult” conversation with a long-time client…

Saying no after years of saying yes…

How about you? Share a couple of your courageous moments in the comments section below. I’d love to hear about them.

Until next time, be inspired… and inspire someone else!

Inspiration comes in many forms and from many sources. For me, quotes are a major source of inspiration.

I love them. They are all around me – framed, in my office, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen… practically everywhere… even the laundry room.

I’ve long considered how I can incorporate quotes that inspire me into this blog, when it came to me… I can start a blog series – ‘Each One Inspire One!’

I thought about naming the series Monday (Tuesday or Friday) Inspiration – but I really don’t want to limit myself (or you) to one inspirational quote a week. I’d much rather leave the door open to post as often as my heart desires.

The quote that will officially kick off this series is one of my absolute favorites – Our Deepest Fear by Marianne Williamson.

marianne williamson quote

This quote touches on something most of us have dealt with – fear. I’m talking about fear of being powerful and brilliant… fear of letting your light shine… fear of not only finding but embracing your purpose.

I hope this quote raises as many hairs on your arm as it does mine. :) (Thanks to no dilemma and lucylaorange for sharing these photos on Flickr.)

If you run across an inspirational quote you’d like to share here, send it right over – along with your name, blog/website URL (if you have one), and the author of the quote. I’d love to share it with my readers.

And if you want to receive regular updates from the ‘Each One Inspire One’ series, make sure you subscribe to the blog.

Until next time, be inspired… and inspire someone else!
